Electronic Surveillance Systems and Support
Full system support
When installing Hiline Steel systems, it is recommended that an electronic surveillance system is included in order to constantly monitor the insulation for the ingress of moisture. This provides peace of mind that should the outer casing be damaged by future street works, the presence of groundwater in the insulation can be picked up, located and repaired before any damage is caused to the service pipe.
We offer full a range of systems and supporting services for the main types of surveillance technologies, including the Nordic, Brandes and HDW systems.
CPV Ltd is also the UK distributor for DASL Systems Ratmon leak detection system that is perfect for use with our Hiline pre-insulated steel pipe systems
-
Complete range
RATMON is a leak detection system that carries out 24/7 remote supervision over a pre-insulated pipe network. Installed detectors automatically send all measuring data to a server, enabling the operator to be kept fully informed about the state of the network and the possible occurrence of an alarm. The operator has access to the system from anywhere with an internet connection. In the event of detecting a leak, the system automatically sends alarm notifications to the network supervisor. -
System Details
- Automated data transfer from detector to the server
- Full data analysis for selected pipe loop
- Automated analysis of TDR curve
- Alarm notifications by SMS, e-mail
- Configuration of alarm thresholds and notifications
- Data visualization by chart or table
- History of measurements
- Drawing of pipe loops on the google.maps
- Printing of documentation and reports
- Inventory of network elements
- Access to the system from any place
- Access to the system regardless the operating system
- Monitoring and configuration of detectors
-
Sensor Cable
RATMON’s patented solution of two double wire MSC-1 cables enables precise detection and location of faults in pre-insulated pipes, used in district cooling and heating. Fully insulated cables, mitigates the risk of false alarms, caused by condensation effect. It is also great solution for monitoring of pre-insulated plastic pipes, straight or PEX type, where using of conventional alarm wires is not efficient.

CPD Courses
CPD for Pre-insulated Heat Network Design and Specification
This two-hour presentation offers a valuable insight into the very latest developments in best practice for heat networks, at a time when all eyes are on the technology as a means of helping decarbonise the UK’s heating supplies.
Having been the UK’s first manufacturer of pre-insulated steel pipe systems under its Hiline brand in the early 1980s, the company has stayed at the forefront of system design and development during the ensuing years. Most recently, this approach has seen the introduction of systems taking advantage of new advanced composite materials that not only improve the reliability and thermal performance of the systems, but also help lower the cost of ownership for system developers.
The presentation covers two main sections, the first discussing pipe system materials and how their selection can affect the successful outcome of a network. Secondly, design considerations are covered, looking at all facets – from concept through to how the system will perform in operation.

Training and CPD Programmes
Training Courses for Pre-Insulated Pipe Networks
Training installers, supervisors and maintenance operatives, our brand new, purpose-built training centre allows for not only the theory, but hands-on practical experience in the correct method for installing our pipe systems. In addition to this, we also offer training courses in the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of electronic surveillance systems – including the use of our own buried pipe network, on which we can simulate moisture faults as part of the practical training.

Engineering and Design Support
Design and Stress Analysis
There are many factors that will affect the long-term integrity of a pre-insulated pipe system. Correctly identifying and dealing with the potential for thermal expansion of the pipe system is a critical element of the design process and we employ state-of-the-art sisKMR specialist stress analysis software. This package allows us to configure the pipe routes to keep the thermal expansion within safe limits and conform to the requirements of the EN 13941 standard for Design and installation of pre-insulated bonded pipe systems for district heating.
Stress Analysis Example
Something as simple as adding in an unplanned branch connection can seriously impair a system’s ability to cope with the huge forces exerted on the pipe from thermal expansion. To put it into context, a 200-metre length of DN250mm pre-insulated steel pipe, heated to an operating temperature of 120°C will expand by around 150mm – exerting a stress of some 171MPa – the equivalent of 52 tonnes.
Please contact us to find out more and access our advanced stress analysis services for your project.
BIM and Revit

Chemflo
A comprehensive corrosive waste pipe system for both above and below-ground applications
One system, many applications
Suitable for use anywhere where mixtures of acids, bases and solvents are conveyed, where stainless steel, cast iron, clay and generic plastic materials fail to stand up to the corrosive nature of certain waste streams.
Fusion & Jointing
An engineer or contractor can combine the benefits of the Chemflo electrofusion joint and the mechanical joint in a single system. Chemflo can be used in inaccessible areas: the mechanical joint works well under benches, where speed of installation or future disassembly is needed. One lightweight welding machine can do all that is required on-site.
Above-ground applications
In above ground installations, the pigmentation protects the system from sunlight. Chemflo is resistant to ultraviolet radiation and is heat-stabilised to provide long life while handling hot reagents.
Below-ground applications
Whilst being perfect for above-ground systems, the Chemflo chemical drainage system is also a safe, secure and cost-effective choice for below-ground applications. Offering all the same benefits, the buried systems are additionally supported with a wide range of fittings, components and accessories that cover all possible configurations with fully bespoke options also readily available.
