In order to meet our goal of providing sustainable products and to lessen our impact on the environment, we have established an Environmental Management System (EMS) which meets the requirements of ISO 14001. This EMS allows us to continually review and improve our processes in order to prevent pollution and waste, reduce the amount of raw material and energy used, minimising our impact on the environment.
As part of this drive towards sustainability, we have installed an extensive array of solar PV panels across the roofs of two of our largest buildings. This is enabling us to produce around a third of our annual electricity requirements. With the longer days, this figure of course increases in the summer months – resulting in us exporting surplus power back into the grid outside our hours of production.
Reducing our reliance on grid-supplied energy is not only saving us money, but it’s making a contribution to reducing global greenhouse gas emissions.
